Privacy Policy Last updated 10 June 2026

Awhi Midwifery (“we”, “us”) provides community midwifery care across Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020 and, where it applies to health information, the Health Information Privacy Code 2020. This policy explains what information this website collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry through our contact form, we collect the details you provide: your name, email address, phone number, due date (if you share it), and your message. If you contact us directly by email or phone, we hold the details you share with us there too.

Clinical information gathered once you are in our care — your health history, scan results, and maternity notes — is held in secure maternity record systems, not on this website, and is managed under the Health Information Privacy Code 2020.

How we use your information

  • To respond to your enquiry and talk with you about your care.
  • To arrange and coordinate midwifery services if you book with us.
  • To understand how the website is used so we can improve it (only if you accept analytics cookies).

We never sell your information. We only share it where you have agreed, where it is needed to provide your care, or where the law requires it.

Cookies

When you first visit, we ask whether you accept cookies. You can change your mind at any time by clearing cookies for this site in your browser.

  • cookieConsent — remembers your cookie choice for 12 months so we do not keep asking.
  • gw_announcement_dismissed — remembers that you closed the announcement bar so it stays closed.
  • Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*) — we do not currently run analytics, but if we introduce Google Analytics in future these cookies will measure how visitors use the site. They are only set if you choose Accept on the cookie banner; choosing Reject keeps all analytics signals off.

Third-party services

  • Google Fonts — our typefaces load from Google, which receives your IP address when fonts are fetched.
  • Google Maps — pages with a map load it from Google, which may set its own cookies when the map is displayed.
  • The Shielded Site widget — the shield icon in our footer opens a Women’s Refuge support portal. It is designed not to appear in your browsing history and we receive no information about its use.

Storage and security

Enquiries submitted through the website are stored securely in our website system and emailed to us. We keep them only as long as needed to respond and arrange care, then delete them. Access is limited to the midwives in our practice.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us at any time to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Email us at [email protected] and we will respond promptly.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information — for example, by adding analytics — we will update this page and the date below the heading.
